China, Armenia pledge stronger cooperation as foreign ministers of both countries held a meeting in Beijing.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Beijing on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and global cooperation.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, noted the longstanding mutual respect and trust between China and Armenia. He expressed China’s willingness to build on this friendship by enhancing cooperation, deepening trust, and jointly contributing to both countries’ development and prosperity.
He affirmed China’s readiness to work with Armenia and other nations in upholding true multilateralism, defending the UN-centered international system, and promoting the rule-based global order. Wang also emphasized cooperation on China’s three major global initiatives and the vision of a shared future for humanity.
Wang reiterated China’s unwavering support for Armenia’s sovereignty and independent development path, which aligns with the will of its people. He also appreciated Armenia’s commitment to the one-China principle and its support on issues concerning China’s core interests.
Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s continued adherence to the one-China policy and expressed interest in expanding collaboration in areas like trade, connectivity, and the economy. He also voiced Armenia’s desire to strengthen coordination with China on international and regional matters, aiming to build a more stable and strategic partnership.
Both sides also discussed further cooperation under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and exchanged views on the evolving Israel-Iran conflict.
