The Chairman of the Senate emphasised that institutional cooperation and parliamentary exchanges between the National People’s Congress of China and the Senate of Pakistan were crucial in advancing bilateral relations.
History of mutual trust:
Gilani noted that mutual trust, respect, goodwill, and steadfast support for one another’s fundamental interests were the cornerstones of Pakistan-China ties. He recalled his many trips to China while working in various national positions, saying he had the honour of meeting Chinese officials, such as the President, Prime Minister, and top ministries. He continued by saying that these interactions resulted in a number of significant agreements meant to improve bilateral cooperation.
China continues to be Pakistan’s most dependable strategic ally and Pakistan greatly appreciated China’s steady assistance in regional and global fora. He emphasised how regional advancement has been aided by collaboration in trade, economy, culture, infrastructure development, and connectivity.
Significance of CPEC:
The Chairman also highlighted the importance of CPEC in laying the foundation of cooperation in agriculture, energy, information technology, green technology and renewable energy. In addition, the Chairman reiterated Pakistan’s determination to turn the corridor into a center of innovation, sustainable development, and economic success. He also expressed interest in collaboration in Special Economic Zones and environmentally sustainable projects. Overall, his meeting with the delegation marked a positive step in China Pakistan relations.
