A new trailer for the English-dubbed version of the Chinese animated hit Ne Zha 2 has been released on CMC Pictures’ official Weibo account in China, ahead of the film’s theatrical re-release in North America, Australia, and New Zealand on August 22.
The 1-minute, 13-second teaser showcases the voice performance of Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, drawing attention to the star-studded English voice cast.
The English version of the film is being jointly distributed by CMC Pictures and acclaimed American distributor A24.
Ne Zha 2 was first released in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand in mid-February with its original Mandarin audio and localized subtitles.
The fantasy animation, which tells the story of the defiant boy-god Nezha, premiered in China during the Chinese New Year holidays in late January before launching internationally.
The film has broken multiple box office records, earning over 15.9 billion yuan (approximately 2.19 billion USD) globally, according to figures from the ticketing platform Maoyan.
Ne Zha 2 now ranks among the top five highest-grossing films of all time worldwide, alongside Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Titanic. It has also become the highest-grossing animated film ever, overtaking Pixar’s Inside Out 2 and Disney’s 2019 The Lion King remake.
