Atleast 1 killed, 8 injured in Mastung Tehsil Office attack as reported by the sources. The situation is developing as the clearance operation is underway.
At least one person lost their life and eight others were injured on Tuesday when unidentified gunmen carried out a daring assault on the Tehsil Office in Mastung district, Balochistan. The attack prompted an immediate response from security forces.
Police sources reported that the attackers stormed the government compound in Mastung city, setting three official vehicles on fire and also targeting three local bank branches, creating panic and disruption across the area.
The person killed was a passerby caught in the crossfire, while the injured were rushed to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Hospital. Medical officials confirmed that several of the injured remain in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, with heavy gunfire and multiple explosions, forcing shops and markets across the city to close abruptly as fear gripped the local population.
Security personnel swiftly reached the location, secured the area, and began a search operation to capture the attackers. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.
The attack comes days after a counterterrorism operation by the Pakistan Army in Balochistan’s Duki District, where forces targeted militants from the Indian-backed group Fitna al Hindustan. According to ISPR, the operation resulted in two militants being killed and two others detained.
In response to the recent unrest, authorities have intensified security measures throughout the province, and investigations into the Mastung incident are currently ongoing.
