The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) has mobilized an investment of PKR 165 billion through enterprises in new and existing Economic Zone since March 2020.
KPEZDMC plans to build 17 EZs around the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to promote industrialization in the province. Since March 2020, KPEZDMC has reviewed 124 units and has generated 3029 jobs.
Abdul Karim Tordher, Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP on Industries, is heading KPEZDMC, facilitating investment of billion of rupees into the province.
According to an official statement, since March 2020, the KPEZDMC has awarded 13 contracts worth PKR 2.2 billion and allotted 357.61 acres of land to the economic zones. It transformed Estates Offices into Industrial Facilitation Centers and fast tracked development and provisions of utilities to the EZ and Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
During the same period, KPEZDMC has successfully launched Jalozai EZ, Nowshera EZ Extension, D.I. Khan EZ, Chitral Economic Zone and Rashakai SEZ, which come under the umbrella of CPEC.
The Government of KP and KPEZDMC and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) are developing RSEZ, which spreads over an area of approximately 1,000 acres of land. For managing the affairs of RSEZ, Rashakai Special Economic Zone Development and Operations Company (RSEZDOC), a special purpose vehicle, has been set up as a JV between KPEZDMC and CRBC. Upon colonization, RSEZ is expected to provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to the locals.
