Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch visited a donkey slaughterhouse operated by Hangeng in the Gwadar Free Zone to review its operations, officials said.
During the visit, company representatives briefed Baloch on production activities. Hangeng also operates donkey-farming facilities linked to its slaughterhouse business.
Gwadar Free Zone Targets Industrial Investment
Baloch said industrial projects in the Gwadar Free Zone could contribute to Pakistan’s economy and export growth.
He added that the Gwadar Port Authority was working to attract investment and encourage industrial development in the port city.
The Free Zone is part of the broader China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. It is intended to support manufacturing, processing and commercial activities serving domestic and international markets.
Export Potential Depends on Market Access
Projects such as Hangeng’s facility could create opportunities for export-oriented industrial activity in Gwadar. However, their long-term economic contribution will depend on several factors.
These include production capacity, access to overseas markets, transport and logistics, and compliance with applicable animal-health and export regulations.
Connections with local suppliers and workers may also influence how much economic activity such projects generate within the region.
Gwadar’s industrial development efforts aim to build on its strategic port location and strengthen its role in Pakistan’s trade and investment landscape.
