Twenty Pakistani students have arrived in Beijing to begin the final year of their specialized diploma program in China. The initiative strengthens Pakistan-China cooperation in vocational education and skills development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The students are enrolled in the CCTE Dual Diploma Program. They will complete their third and final year at Fujian Vocational and Technical College in Fujian Province.
Dual Diploma Program Supports Skills Development
The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training launched the program two years ago. It operates under the China-Pakistan Vocational Education Academic Alliance model.
The initiative has support from the Academy for Vocational and Professional Development (NAVPD) of NHU and Pakistan’s National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).
Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said 20 selected students are now traveling to China for their final year.
Moreover, NAVTTC has supported the implementation of the program.
Students Gain Practical Training in China
The selected students largely come from middle-class families. According to the minister, they have also been assured employment opportunities with Chinese companies after completing their diplomas.
In addition, the program provides financial support to participating students. This assistance helps students continue their education while gaining international experience.
The final year will give participants practical exposure to China’s vocational education system. They will also develop technical skills linked to modern industries.
Preparing Pakistani Youth for Industry
The students said the opportunity would help them gain technical knowledge and practical experience. They also expressed hope that they could use these skills to support Pakistan’s industrial and economic development.
Furthermore, the program can help prepare young Pakistanis for employment in emerging industries. It also connects skills development with sectors linked to the broader CPEC framework.
Strengthening Pakistan-China Education Cooperation
The arrival of the students highlights the expanding scope of Pakistan-China cooperation in technical and vocational education.
Previously, bilateral cooperation focused heavily on infrastructure, trade, and investment. Now, skills development and human-resource training are becoming an important part of the partnership.
As a result, initiatives such as the dual diploma program can create new pathways for Pakistani youth to gain industry-focused education and international experience.
Officials See Students Off
Provincial Assembly Member Muhammad Aamir Siddiqui, Ijaz-ul-Haq, and federal government official Dr Ubaid Ali were present at Karachi Airport to see the students off.
The students will now continue their final year of studies at Fujian Vocational and Technical College in China.
