Port Qasim Cargo Handling Rises to 47m Tonnes
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Port Qasim has recorded a significant improvement in cargo handling under the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms.

Cargo handling has increased from 45 million tonnes to 47 million tonnes. The rise reflects ongoing efforts to improve port operations and strengthen Pakistan’s maritime sector.

Dredging Improves Port Operations

Authorities continue dredging work to maintain the required depth in Port Qasim’s navigation channels.

This work helps ensure smoother movement of vessels. It also supports efficient cargo handling and reduces operational challenges at the port.

Customs Clearance Gets More Efficient

Alongside improvements in port operations, authorities have introduced reforms in the customs clearance system.

The introduction of faceless customs assessment at Port Qasim has improved transparency. It has also made the clearance process faster and more efficient.

Maritime Reforms Support Trade Growth

These measures form part of broader efforts to modernize Pakistan’s maritime infrastructure. Better port operations and streamlined customs procedures can support higher trade volumes.

As a result, Port Qasim is strengthening its role in Pakistan’s trade and logistics network.
