Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to China, Ali Asad Gilani, in Islamabad.
Dar congratulated Gilani on his appointment and highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its long-standing relationship with China.
Focus on Pakistan-China Relations
The foreign minister called for deeper cooperation under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
He identified several key areas for further engagement. These include trade, investment, connectivity, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Moreover, Dar highlighted agriculture, science and technology, education, and people-to-people exchanges as important areas of cooperation.
Gilani Brings Diplomatic Experience
Dar also appreciated Gilani’s services as Additional Secretary for Asia Pacific.
He expressed confidence that Gilani’s experience would help strengthen Pakistan-China relations. The foreign minister also wished him success during his tenure in Beijing.
Strengthening Cooperation with China
The meeting reflects Pakistan’s continued focus on expanding ties with China.
In addition, the upcoming ambassadorial tenure is expected to support greater cooperation in economic, technological, and diplomatic fields.
