Pakistan’s security forces killed 12 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district, Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation followed reports of a terrorist presence in the area. ISPR identified the group as members of what it described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan.
Terrorist Hideout Targeted
Security forces identified and monitored a terrorist hideout during the operation. They then carried out a targeted action against the location.
As a result, all 12 terrorists were killed. Security personnel also destroyed a cache of ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the site.
Sanitization Operation Underway
Following the operation, security forces launched sanitization efforts in the surrounding area. The teams are searching for any remaining militants.
Meanwhile, authorities continue counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework. The campaign aims to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism across Pakistan.
President and PM Commend Security Forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful operation.
President Zardari said terrorism would be defeated at all costs. He also commended continued efforts by security agencies to eliminate what he described as foreign-backed terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the forces are conducting effective operations against groups seeking to undermine peace in Pakistan. He added that the nation stands with the armed forces in their efforts to protect the country.
Pakistan Continues Counterterrorism Efforts
The Kalat operation comes as Pakistani security forces continue intensified counterterrorism efforts across the country.
Furthermore, authorities have pledged to maintain operations against militant groups and strengthen efforts to protect national security and public safety.
