The 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of
China was commemorated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where senior military and diplomatic officials from Pakistan and China reaffirmed their longstanding strategic partnership.
The ceremony was attended by Jiang Zaidong as the guest of honour. Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s tri-services also participated in the event.
Army Chief Congratulates PLA
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary.
Moreover, he praised the PLA’s contributions to China’s national defence, economic development, and international peace and security.
Pakistan-China Friendship Reaffirmed
The Field Marshal described Pakistan-China relations as unique, time-tested, and resilient despite changing regional and global circumstances.
Furthermore, he said the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA remain trusted partners, united by mutual trust, unwavering support, and a shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and the protection of common strategic interests.
China Reaffirms Support for Pakistan
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Pakistan Army for hosting the commemorative event.
In addition, he acknowledged the Pakistan Armed Forces’ sacrifices and contributions in the fight against terrorism.
The ambassador also reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan and its commitment to strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
Strong Defence Ties Continue
The ceremony reflected the close defence relationship between Pakistan and China, which continues to expand through military cooperation, strategic dialogue, and regular high-level exchanges.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote regional peace, security, and long-term strategic cooperation.
