Suicide attack near railway track in Quetta, 24 dead 70 injured
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A deadly suicide attack occurred in Quetta near Chaman Phatak whereby a suicide bomber blew himself up near a train. The attack caused derailment of several trains passing through the area. The incident resulted in 24 deaths and 70 injuries of women, children and elderly passengers abroad. According to sources, there were 330 passengers onboard. The explosion has also impacted nearby areas due to the eruption of fire.

BLA’s involvement

The Baloch Liberation Army has came forward and claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the sources, Majeed Brigade carried out the attack on innocent civilians. According to some reports, the BLA is being backed by the Fitnah-al-Hindustan from India. This move comes at a time when country officials are visiting China to discuss the advancement of CPEC Phase-II and might be an aggressive move to deter government officials.

Swift action by the Security Forces

In response to the incident, security personnel and law enforcement agencies moved quickly to secure the area, start a comprehensive investigation, and start efforts to find and capture all of the facilitators and offenders. The injured personnel have been shifted to civil hospital in Quetta.

The Frontier Corps members’ selflessness in accepting martyrdom serves as further evidence of Pakistan’s security services commitment to preserving public life from terrorist threats. Pakistan has dealt with terrorist forces before and has significantly reduced terrorist incidents but the threat continues to prevail.
