Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has arrived for a 4-day visit in Hangzhou. Pakistan and China are entering a new phase of practical, people-centric development cooperation.
CPEC Phase-II
This meeting is key for the advancement of CPEC Phase-II. Speaking with CPC Zheijang Committee Secretary Wang Hao in Hangzhou, the PM emphasized the strengtheing of cooperation in digital economy, e-commerce, IT, Telecom, agriculture, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and skill development. The PM realized that cooperation in these areas is vital for the advancement of CPEC Phase-II.
Two major MoUs were signed by the Premier:
- MoU on sister-province relations between Zheijang and Punjab.
- Agreement between Hangzhou Normal University and Pakistan’s embassy to establish a China-Pakistan Joint Technology Research Centre.
Meeting with Ali Baba’s Executive Chairman
The Prime Minister also met Alibaba’s Executive Chairman Mr. Tsai at Alibaba HeadQuarters in Hangzhou. Mr.Tsai appreciated Pakistan’s digitalisation journey and remarked that it was: “the powerful case for digitalization I have ever heard”. The meeting marks an important step in advancing Pakistan’s agenda of digitalization under CPEC Phase-II.
Accompanied by other ministers:
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar have also arrived in Beijing to discuss other advancments. The ministers will discuss the 2nd China-Pakistan Political Parties Forum and the 4th meeting of the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism.
The Prime Minister will be heading to Beijing afterwards for meeting with Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
