An introductory meeting was held in Gwadar to discuss the establishment of a Women’s Bazaar. The session aimed to promote business opportunities for local women.
The meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the district administration. It was organized following the success of a recent Meena Bazaar initiative.
Focus on Women’s Economic Empowerment
Officials from the Women Development Department Balochistan attended the session. In addition, representatives from relevant institutions also participated.
The main goal was to create a safe and dignified business platform for women. As a result, local women can turn their skills into income-generating activities.
Strong Participation from Women Entrepreneurs
Women who applied online for participation also joined the session. They presented business ideas across multiple sectors.
These included food items, tailoring, cosmetics, handicrafts, books, jewelry, and cultural dresses. Moreover, one participant suggested a women’s driving training center, which received positive attention.
Support and Institutional Commitment
Rubina Karim Shahwani highlighted growing interest among women in Gwadar. She expressed hope that the Women’s Bazaar will soon become operational.
Similarly, Rubina Zehri emphasized that the initiative will strengthen women’s economic empowerment. However, she noted that success depends on active participation.
Next Steps and Future Planning
Participants suggested prioritizing local women for shop allotment. Moreover, they proposed expanding space through additional cabin-style shops if required.
Authorities are also considering renaming the project as a “Women Business Complex” to better reflect its scope.
Overall, the initiative marks a significant step toward supporting women-led entrepreneurship in Gwadar.
