Pakistan has offered overland trade routes to Russia and Central Asian countries through its Arabian Sea ports, presenting itself as a strategic transit hub for regional commerce. Officials say the initiative reflects a shift toward alternative supply corridors connecting Eurasia with international markets.
Speaking at a UN transport forum, the communications minister highlighted multiple land corridors linking Pakistan with Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, China, and Central Asia. These routes are designed to facilitate faster cargo movement and reduce dependence on longer maritime paths.
Authorities also emphasized major infrastructure projects, including the Sukkur–Hyderabad M-6 motorway, which will complete Pakistan’s north-south trade backbone. The government believes such developments could attract foreign investment and transform the country into a key logistics gateway for regional trade.
