Pakistan’s finance minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has assured the textile industry of immediate government support during a meeting with the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). The discussion focused on addressing key challenges facing exporters, including rising costs, policy consistency, and sustaining export-led growth amid global competition.
The minister emphasized that the textile sector remains a backbone of Pakistan’s economy due to its contribution to exports, employment, and industrial activity. He said the government is reviewing issues affecting the cost of doing business, particularly energy affordability and reliability, while pursuing balanced reforms to enhance competitiveness and ensure fiscal sustainability.
Government officials also discussed operational and supply-side constraints faced by industries in certain regions. The ministers reaffirmed continued engagement with the textile sector, stressing coordination with relevant authorities, structured dialogue, and timely resolution of issues to support industrial productivity and long-term economic stability.
