Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi raised a Japan-related matter during high-level talks with Jonathan Powell, the British prime minister’s national security adviser, in Beijing. Wang emphasized that these issues are closely connected to regional stability and historical responsibilities in Asia.
He highlighted that both China and the UK, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, have shared global responsibilities. Wang called for constructive engagement, steady communication, and a rational, long-term approach to bilateral relations.
Wang added that cooperation should remain central while differences are handled directly and pragmatically to maintain stable ties. Powell responded that the UK aims to build a steady and strategic relationship with China and is ready to strengthen institutional dialogue and practical cooperation.
The talks also included discussions on wider international issues, such as the Ukraine conflict, with both sides agreeing that ongoing coordination and communication are essential for global stability.
