China has introduced a new electrified smart “braided heavy truck” to promote green freight and logistics. Developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd., the Zhidao Electrified Highway Transportation System debuted at a rail transport expo in Hunan Province. The truck offers an efficient, intelligent, and eco-friendly solution for heavy cargo transport.
It features intelligent energy replenishment, smart connectivity, automated driving, and advanced safety technologies. The truck uses pantographs linked to overhead catenary “braids,” allowing longer operations without battery limits. This design is especially useful for ports, mines, and other heavy-haul operations.
The vehicle includes safety modules for pantograph-catenary operation, power-supply prevention, and driving safety. It can give real-time risk alerts and respond quickly to emergencies. Nearly 10,000 km of trials in tough road conditions have ensured stable performance along straight paths, curves, and slopes.
China’s freight sector relies on about 9 million heavy-duty trucks. By introducing the smart braided truck, China aims to cut costs, improve efficiency, and support sustainable logistics. Developers plan to release more intelligent green vehicles in the future to further modernize the industry.
