Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched a livelihood and food security initiative in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), aimed at empowering vulnerable rural households through livestock distribution and practical training.
Titled “Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Households in Pakistan through Livestock Provision,” the project is being implemented in collaboration with the KP Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department (RRSD), the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and local partner Peace and Development Organization (PADO).
The initiative seeks to reduce poverty, improve food security, and promote self-reliance among families affected by economic hardship and natural disasters. Under the program, livestock and training are being provided across multiple districts — families in Chitral and Dir are receiving goats, those in Swat, Swabi, Haripur, and Mansehra are being given poultry kits, while selected families in Charsadda, Mardan, and Nowshera will gain cattle and dairy production training through the provincial Livestock Department.
Abdullah Al-Baqami, Director of KSrelief Pakistan, highlighted that the project symbolizes the deep brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and reinforces KSrelief’s long-term commitment to sustainable development. Additional Secretary Noor ul Amin, who attended the launch event, commended the Kingdom’s support, calling the initiative a valuable contribution to enhancing livelihoods and improving food security in rural KP.
Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, continues to be one of Pakistan’s leading humanitarian partners, contributing to flood relief, education, health, and livelihood programs nationwide. This livestock project further strengthens that cooperation, especially in regions prone to floods and displacement.
With nearly 1.8 million households in rural KP depending on agriculture and livestock, the initiative provides a much-needed safety net, helping families rebuild economic stability, improve nutrition, and enhance resilience to climate and financial shocks.
