Bugti Says Terrorists Enjoy State Patronage in Afghanistan

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti says terrorists enjoy state patronage in Afghanistan and continue to launch deadly attacks in Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, he claimed that militant groups were running training camps and using safe havens across the border.

Safe Havens and the Doha Agreement

Bugti stressed that several militants killed in recent operations were Afghan nationals. He urged the Taliban government to honour the Doha Agreement and stop its territory from being used for terrorism. According to him, Kabul’s failure to act has worsened Pakistan’s security situation.

RAW’s Alleged Role in Balochistan

The chief minister reiterated Pakistan’s concern that groups like the TTP and BLA operate freely from Afghan soil. Bugti also accused India’s intelligence agency RAW of funding a proxy war in Balochistan and attempting to unite different militant factions against Pakistan.

Details of the Chaghi Operation

Sharing details of a recent operation in Chaghi, Bugti said security forces killed two militants and arrested one after an exchange of fire. One of the slain men, a lawyer by profession, allegedly conducted reconnaissance of projects involving Chinese nationals and planned an attack on FC Headquarters.

4G Suspension as a Security Measure

Responding to criticism over the 4G suspension in Balochistan, Bugti defended the move as a necessary security measure. “Terrorists are now using advanced communication channels beyond our agencies’ monitoring capacity,” he explained. Restricting networks, he added, has helped intelligence agencies intercept militants.

Bugti acknowledged development challenges in the province but rejected violence as a solution. He dismissed allegations of a puppet government in Balochistan, insisting that extremist elements would not be allowed to destabilise Pakistan.
