The 2nd Silk Road Global News Awards were announced during the 2025 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road (BRI) in Kunming, Southwest China. The event underscored the role of international media in fostering collaboration under the BRI framework.
This year, the awards received nearly 5,000 entries from 110 countries and regions. A total of 58 works from 37 countries were recognised across four main categories: Best Reporting, Best Photography, Best Video, and Best Innovation.
Notable winners included Colin Stevens, editor-in-chief of EU Reporter, for his feature “China’s Belt & Road: Building Bridges not Walls.” Argentine photographers Renato Valentini and Rocío Vellón won Best Photography, while News.am from Armenia earned Best Video. The Best Innovation Award went to Treasures and Masks, a documentary co-produced by Egyptian Television and China Media Group.
Hosted by the Belt and Road News Network (BRNN) and chaired by People’s Daily, the Silk Road Global News Awards remain the only international journalism awards under the Belt and Road’s multilateral cooperation framework
