Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on the sidelines of the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit in Doha, where he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Qatar following Israel’s September 9 attack. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir were also present at the meeting.
Sharif strongly condemned Israel’s strike on a residential area in Doha, which killed civilians and injured many others, calling it a “flagrant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law.” He stressed that Israel’s aggression in the Middle East must be halted immediately and underscored the urgency of Muslim unity in the face of repeated provocations.
Recalling his earlier visit to Doha on September 12, Sharif emphasised that Pakistan and Qatar share historic, deep-rooted, and enduring fraternal ties that will continue to grow stronger. He appreciated Qatar’s initiative to convene the Emergency Arab–Islamic Summit, describing it as a timely step to unify the Muslim world against Israeli aggression.
The Prime Minister also noted that, at Qatar’s request, Pakistan had sought an emergency session of the UN Security Council to address the escalating situation.
The Emir of Qatar thanked the Prime Minister for his participation in the summit and his earlier solidarity visit, praising Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts at a critical juncture. Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact as regional developments unfold.
