China will offer 3,000 training and study opportunities to Pakistani nationals between 2025 and 2029 under the China-Pakistan Action Plan (2025–2029), finalised during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Beijing.
The initiative prioritises science, technology, and human resources, recognising human capital development as a core pillar of bilateral cooperation. Both countries will expand joint research in applied and basic sciences, with new laboratories planned under the Belt and Road Initiative. These labs will focus on disaster prevention, early warning systems, climate change, hydropower, air pollution, new energy, agriculture, health, and artificial intelligence.
Talent exchanges will also see a major boost. Pakistani researchers and administrators will benefit from training and education programs in China through initiatives such as the Talented Young Scientist Programme, International Technical Training Workshop, CAS President’s Fellowship, and the CAS-ANSO Scholarship.
Cooperation will extend to spatial information, AI, traditional medicine, marine sciences, and energy resources, including joint surveys on natural gas hydrates. The plan further stresses collaboration in cybersecurity, data security, engineering recognition, employment promotion, vocational training, and social security system improvements.
Officials said the initiative would strengthen academic, professional, and technological linkages while equipping Pakistan with the skills and knowledge required for long-term growth.
