Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that government policies echo President Xi’s vision of progress, prosperity, and people’s welfare. He stressed that Pakistan’s development agenda was aligned with China’s model of shared growth.
Speaking to students and faculty at Tianjin University, where more than 200 Pakistanis are enrolled, the premier urged them to gain advanced knowledge and technology. He said the students should serve Pakistan’s future by applying what they learn in China. Calling them “ambassadors of Pakistan,” Shehbaz added that they would return as “torchbearers of Pakistan-China friendship.”
The prime minister praised President Xi’s leadership. He highlighted China’s achievement of lifting 800 million people from poverty and becoming the world’s second-largest economy. He said Xi’s philosophy of multilateralism and shared prosperity had inspired confidence across the globe.
Shehbaz also underlined the depth of Pakistan-China ties. He recalled Pakistan’s early recognition of the People’s Republic of China and the first PIA flight from Karachi to Beijing. He said this trust-based bond would “last forever, no matter the challenges.”
The premier emphasised Pakistan’s youth potential, noting that 60% of the population is under 30. He said education, skills training, and collaboration with China could harness this strength. So far, 1,000 agriculture graduates have been trained in China, while about 30,000 students are pursuing higher education there.
Later, Shehbaz visited the National Earthquake Simulation Centre at Tianjin University. He praised China’s disaster-management technology and said Pakistan could adopt similar practices to reduce risks.
Ambassadors, ministers, and members of the prime minister’s delegation accompanied him during the visit.
