Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reached the United States to participate in major events under Pakistan’s presidency of the UN Security Council in New York, along with other official meetings in Washington.
While in New York, he will lead a high-level Open Debate on “Promoting International Peace and Security through Multilateralism and Peaceful Settlement of Disputes,” which will explore strategies to reinforce multilateral cooperation and bolster diplomacy and mediation in resolving conflicts.
Dar is also scheduled to preside over the Security Council’s Quarterly Open Debate focusing on “The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question.”
Additionally, he will chair a UN Security Council high-level briefing aimed at enhancing cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), reflecting Pakistan’s initiative to promote joint efforts between the two bodies for global peace and security.
To reaffirm Pakistan’s firm support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, the Deputy Prime Minister will also attend a high-level conference on the “Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.”
During his visit to New York, Ishaq Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with fellow foreign ministers and senior UN officials.
