The first batch of Pakistani agricultural professionals trained in China graduated on Thursday from Shaanxi A&F Technology University, marking a significant step forward in China-Pakistan agricultural collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, while speaking at the ceremony, stressed that this graduation was more than just the end of an academic journey, it symbolized the transition from plans to real-world impact. He noted that the program stemmed from a pledge by Pakistan’s Prime Minister to train 1,000 agricultural professionals in China, aiming to solve Pakistan’s farming challenges through advanced expertise and practical experience.
Ambassador Hashmi told the graduates that their training in Yangling, China’s leading center for agricultural innovation, had exposed them to cutting-edge techniques in smart farming, seed technology, and sustainable land management. He described the graduates as “seeds of change” ready to bring transformation back home.
He also praised the evolution of Yangling College into Shaanxi A&F Technology University, calling it a testament to the growing ambition of agricultural education. The ambassador appreciated the leadership of Professor Zhong Weizhou and the continued support from Gao Jinxiao of the Shaanxi Foreign Affairs Office.
Encouraging the graduates to apply their learning purposefully and motivate others, Hashmi called them the pioneers of a new era in Pakistan-China ties—one that is greener, smarter, and focused on people.
He expressed hope that these professionals would return home not only with technical know-how but also with the innovative spirit fostered in Yangling’s progressive agricultural ecosystem.
The ceremony highlighted the strengthening cooperation between China and Pakistan in agricultural modernization, a shared priority in both nations’ development agendas.
