Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is scheduled to make a one-day visit to Kabul, Afghanistan, today to formally sign the Framework Agreement on the Joint Feasibility Study for the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (UAP) Railway Project.
He will be joined by a senior delegation that includes the Minister for Railways, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways.
The UAP Railway Project aims to establish a rail corridor connecting Uzbekistan and Pakistan through Afghanistan, providing Central Asian countries access to Pakistani seaports and enhancing regional trade and transit. The initiative is expected to contribute to regional peace, development, and economic growth.
The signing of the Framework Agreement in Kabul marks a significant milestone toward the project’s realization and underscores the commitment of the three nations.
During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister is also expected to meet with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister and pay a courtesy call on the Acting Prime Minister to discuss bilateral ties and share perspectives on regional and global issues.
