Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Thursday praised China’s supply chain, calling it a “miracle” and underscoring the country’s advanced capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and computer science.
Speaking at the China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing, Huang highlighted that China’s supply chain is the most expansive and complex globally, driven not just by labor but by cutting-edge technology, AI, and sophisticated software systems.
Having visited China frequently this year, Huang emphasized the country’s critical role in the global technology ecosystem. He noted that China possesses rare and deep expertise in computer science, with advanced architectures and algorithms developed to serve its massive population.
His remarks come at a time of heightened U.S.-China tensions in the tech sector. Despite geopolitical strains and regulatory pressures, Huang underscored the importance of maintaining global collaboration and connectivity.
He explained that the creation of complex products depends on the global supply chain, in which Nvidia plays a vital role by providing both hardware and software for systems used around the world.
Throughout the interview, Huang repeatedly emphasized the idea that a supply chain is fundamentally about connection, a global network of suppliers and providers working together.
Just a week prior, Nvidia reached a historic milestone, becoming the first company to surpass a $4 trillion market valuation.
On the topic of artificial intelligence, Huang described AI as the next major technological revolution, though he believes it is still in its early development. He noted that over the past decade, foundational progress has enabled AI to now reason, think, and interpret information in remarkable ways.
He also addressed concerns about AI safety, stressing the need for responsible innovation. Huang identified cybersecurity and environmental monitoring as essential areas for ensuring AI’s safe advancement.
In response to a question on China’s role in the future of AI, Huang pointed to its strong base of scientific talent and passion for math and science, saying the country is well-positioned to lead in the AI era.
