Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, has unveiled plans to develop Gwadar into a modern maritime and logistics center.
In a meeting held on Wednesday with Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noor ul Haque, the Minister emphasized the need for practical measures to boost the efficiency and performance of Pakistan’s ports.
He also highlighted the largely untapped economic potential of Balochistan’s coastal and agricultural areas, particularly identifying promising business prospects in fishing and date farming in Gwadar, Panjgur, and Kech.
To support this potential, the Minister encouraged both public and private sector investment in facilities for fish processing, including cleaning, freezing, and packaging.
The discussion also covered a proposal to build an Off-Dock Terminal near the New Gwadar International Airport, aimed at providing essential logistical advantages, especially for trade with landlocked Central Asian nations.
