Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on people in the film industry to produce more outstanding films that embody the spirit of the current era and give voice to the hopes and dreams of the people.
Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, shared these thoughts in a recent letter responding to eight veteran Chinese film artists, including the 97-year-old renowned actress Tian Hua.
In his letter, Xi mentioned that reading the artists’ message brought back memories of the classic films they had contributed to, works that remain beloved by audiences across the country.
He expressed hope that these senior artists would continue to lead by example, demonstrating both moral integrity and dedication to artistic excellence.
Xi further encouraged them to inspire the wider film community to strengthen cultural confidence, stay connected to real-life experiences, and contribute to the flourishing of the arts and the development of a culturally rich and strong nation,
