Between July 2 and 6, eight schoolgirls from Balochistan province in southwest Pakistan visited Beijing, where they toured iconic sites like the Forbidden City and the Bird’s Nest stadium, and also engaged with women-led agricultural businesses, deepening cultural and educational exchange.
The Chinese embassy in Pakistan has been actively supporting a project that distributes health kits to remote areas across 23 of Balochistan’s 36 districts. So far, around 7,000 girls from 310 schools have received the kits and awareness training, while 151 teachers have been trained to help maintain and expand the initiative.
To further the impact, the Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries arranged trips to China for some of the project’s beneficiaries and their teachers, giving them a chance to experience Chinese culture and development firsthand.
Munir Ahmed, leading the delegation and a Balochistan education official, stated that the program has brought visible improvements in health, hygiene, and education access for girls, which has motivated many to continue their studies and envision a better future.
One of the students, Asma Munir, expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting the stark contrast between past struggles and the current progress. She described the initiative as a beacon of hope and empowerment, and thanked China for investing in the well-being and future of Balochistan’s female students.
While visiting Beijing Vocational College of Agriculture, Pakistani students interacted with Chinese peers, including third-year student Chen Cheng, who guided them through a greenhouse showcasing soilless cultivation of crops like tomatoes and lettuce. Together, the students also participated in flower arranging activities.
Chen was moved by the interaction, especially a touching story shared by a Pakistani student about how her mother’s education had transformed her life. Chen reflected on how education breaks barriers, deepens mutual understanding, and helps dreams grow beyond borders.
