Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko in Beijing on Friday to discuss the advancement of bilateral and regional cooperation.
President Xi recalled that in September last year, he co-chaired the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit alongside Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye in Beijing. He noted that the summit marked a new stage in China-Africa relations, ushering in a shared vision of building an all-weather China-Africa community with a common future in the new era.
Xi emphasized that China and Senegal are close partners in development and revitalization, describing the relationship as one of deep brotherhood. He expressed China’s readiness to enhance unity and collaboration with Senegal, deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and deliver greater benefits to their peoples while further strengthening China-Africa and Global South cooperation.
