China has expressed a warm welcome to Vietnam for becoming a BRICS partner country, according to a statement made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun shared this view during a routine press briefing when responding to Brazil’s announcement that Vietnam had been officially accepted as a BRICS partner last Friday.
Guo emphasized that China supports Vietnam’s inclusion in the BRICS framework, as it will not only contribute to Vietnam’s own progress but also serve the broader interests of both the BRICS group and the Global South.
He added that China is confident Vietnam will play a constructive role within the BRICS mechanism.
The spokesperson further highlighted that the inclusion of a new partner like Vietnam enhances the diversity and global relevance of BRICS, demonstrating the group’s growing influence. He reaffirmed China’s willingness to collaborate with both BRICS members and partners to build deeper, more practical cooperation under the “BRICS Plus” model, and to support multilateralism, justice, and inclusive global development.
