Xi urges cultural, ethical growth for national rejuvenation and need to integrate material and moral progress as part of Chinese modernization.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has highlighted the critical role of advancing high-quality cultural and moral development as essential to building a strong nation and achieving China’s rejuvenation goals.
Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made these statements in a directive shared during a national conference held on Friday to recognize contributors to cultural and moral progress.
Stressing that the simultaneous advancement of material and moral culture is a hallmark of Chinese modernization, Xi emphasized the need to apply the guiding principles of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to foster unity, reinforce ideological commitment, and promote core socialist values.
He called for further steps to enrich citizens’ cultural experiences and support their all-round development, while ensuring balanced progress in moral and cultural standards across both cities and the countryside.
Xi also encouraged deeper reforms, increased innovation, greater public engagement, and the development of a sustainable and collaborative framework to drive forward cultural and ethical development.
At the same event, Cai Qi—member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau Standing Committee and Secretariat—emphasized that high-quality cultural and moral progress is vital for rallying national strength in the pursuit of Chinese modernization.
