President Xi Jinping encouraged Chinese youth to contribute to national modernization by committing themselves to roles where the country needs them most.
In a response letter to volunteer teachers stationed in a remote border school in Xinjiang, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, shared his expectations.
To mark China’s Youth Day on May 4, Xi sent greetings to young people across the nation and voiced confidence in their potential to support the country’s development.
He praised the volunteers working at a primary school in Karajol Township, Artux City—close to China’s border—for advancing education, promoting ethnic unity, and supporting stability in the frontier areas.
Xi observed that more young people have recently been volunteering in China’s western and rural areas, showcasing their spirit of commitment and sense of responsibility.
He called on the youth to hold firm to their ideals, embrace patriotism, sharpen their skills, and contribute actively to the modernization of the nation.
The letter was prompted by a recent message from the volunteers, in which they shared their experiences and reiterated their dedication to serving in China’s border regions.
