PM Shehbaz, Erdogan discuss strong brotherly ties as Prime Minister is on an official visit to Ankara.
Pakistan and Turkiye reiterated their strong brotherly relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in a wide range of areas.
This mutual resolve was expressed during a meeting in Ankara on Tuesday between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Prime Minister Sharif stressed the significance of expanding economic ties, particularly by encouraging joint ventures and boosting bilateral investments.
He pointed to various potential areas for collaboration, including energy, mining, defense, agriculture, regional and bilateral connectivity, and emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and cyber-security.
The two leaders also reviewed progress on the outcomes of the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting held in Islamabad on February 13, 2025, and expressed satisfaction over the advancement in their comprehensive bilateral ties.
They also discussed regional and international developments and reiterated mutual support on matters of vital national interest.
Both leaders voiced serious concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and urgent humanitarian aid for the affected civilians.
President Erdoğan lauded Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its humanitarian assistance efforts.
The two sides expressed a strong determination to further consolidate their strategic partnership to promote regional peace, development, and prosperity.
The Pakistani delegation accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and Ambassador to Turkiye Dr. Yusuf Junaid.
Following the talks, President Erdoğan hosted a formal banquet in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation.
