Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday for an official state visit.
At Kuala Lumpur International Airport, he was received with a warm welcome by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
In a written statement upon his arrival, Xi said he viewed this visit as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the longstanding friendship between China and Malaysia and to boost mutual political confidence.
He encouraged both countries to deepen their collaboration in modernization efforts, promote cultural dialogue, and further develop the China-Malaysia partnership based on shared goals and future aspirations.
Xi expressed optimism that, with cooperation from both sides, the visit would lead to meaningful achievements, fostering a new era of friendly neighborly relations and mutual benefit, while beginning what he called a “Golden 50 Years” of bilateral progress.
He emphasized the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between the two nations, noting that China and Malaysia have maintained strong neighborly bonds for over a thousand years.
Since establishing diplomatic ties more than 50 years ago, Xi said, both countries have prioritized mutual respect, equality, and win-win cooperation, becoming a model for international relations.
He also reflected on the milestone agreement made in 2023 to jointly build a China-Malaysia community with a shared future and the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations last year.
Highlighting the importance of both nations as key developing countries within the Global South, Xi noted that stronger strategic cooperation would benefit their mutual interests and contribute to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
