Pakistan can combat terrorism with international support, Chinese diplomat stated after the Jaffar Express incident.
China’s top diplomat has emphasized that international cooperation is crucial in helping Pakistan curb rising terrorism and reaffirmed Beijing’s steadfast support in countering militancy.
Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, stated that China is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan following the recent terror attack on the Jaffar Express. Condemning the attack, he extended condolences to the victims’ families and reiterated China’s firm stance against terrorism, pledging continued support for Pakistan in its counterterrorism efforts.
Yang also assured assistance in apprehending the perpetrators and restoring security.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Chinese Consulate on Friday regarding the significance of China’s Two Sessions, he highlighted that the recently concluded 2025 sessions in Beijing outlined China’s roadmap for economic and social development while reinforcing its commitment to modernization and global cooperation.
He noted that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan, while 2025 will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations. He underscored the opportunity to enhance collaboration in trade, infrastructure, and socioeconomic development.
“Our goal is to accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future, ensuring greater prosperity and stability for both nations,” he said.
Yang reaffirmed China’s commitment to fostering high-standard global partnerships, promoting peace, and supporting emerging economies. He described China-Pakistan relations as a model of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
His remarks followed the deadly attack on the Jaffar Express, which resulted in the deaths of 26 passengers, including 18 security personnel from the army and Frontier Corps (FC).
