Gwadar Book Fair concludes on a successful note, celebrating record-breaking book sales worth over Rs2.8 million.
The book fair organized by the RCD Council Gwadar concluded with a grand closing ceremony, marking the end of a successful four-day event. The fair recorded an unprecedented sale of books worth over Rs2.8 million, showcasing the community’s deep appreciation for knowledge and intellectual enrichment. Speakers at the event emphasized that cultivating a love for books is a transformative act, urging the youth to embrace reading as a key to success.
The closing ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, Secretary Fisheries Anwar Shafqat Shahwani, environmental and social activist Safina Faraz, RCD Council Gwadar’s Patron-in-Chief Khuda Bakhsh Hashim, and President Naseer Rahim Suhrabi.
In their speeches, the speakers highlighted the profound and spiritual connection between humans and books, describing it as divinely ordained. They reiterated that despite rapid technological advancements, books and the written word remain indispensable. They emphasized that books not only illuminate minds and sharpen judgment but also hold eternal significance.
The dignitaries firmly rejected stereotypes portraying the Baloch people as illiterate, citing the impressive book sales as proof of the region’s intellectual engagement. They argued that if the Baloch lacked education, they would not invest so heavily in books. The speakers also praised Balochistan’s immense talent across various fields but expressed concern that these individuals often go unrecognized.
