Chinese Premier Li Qiang stressed the importance of ensuring safe and smooth travel for the public during the Spring Festival travel rush, as well as maintaining efficient transport logistics operations. He made these remarks on Monday while inspecting the Ministry of Transport’s preparations for the holiday season.
Li noted that the Spring Festival travel season is a time for joyful family reunions, and this year’s travel demand is expected to reach record levels, presenting a significant challenge to the country’s transport system.
He called for smooth and efficient passenger transport by analyzing travel patterns scientifically, increasing train services, optimizing schedules, and extending operational hours to ensure timely travel for passengers.
Li acknowledged the impact of recent rain, snow, and cold weather on transport and emphasized the need to monitor weather changes closely, issue forecasts and warnings, and prepare for emergencies to minimize disruptions to public travel.
After reviewing foreign trade and express logistics services at ports, Li highlighted the importance of efficient port cargo transportation for China’s foreign trade. He stressed maintaining effective logistics operations to ensure timely delivery of international orders during the holiday period.
Li urged express delivery companies to manage labor and transport resources effectively to meet basic public delivery needs. He also emphasized securing essential supplies, such as food, coal for heating, and holiday necessities, during the peak travel period.
