Rawalpindi, 23 January 2025 – First Lady visits AFIC, appreciates Chinese support in health sector while she was briefed about the facilities.
First Lady Aseefa Bhutto visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and National Institute of Heart Diseases (AFIC-NIHD) today, where she received a detailed briefing from a Chinese cardiology expert team led by Professor Dr. Pan Xiang Bin.
The team highlighted groundbreaking medical procedures for treating congenital and structural heart diseases using ultrasound guidance, a technique being introduced in Pakistan exclusively at AFIC-NIHD with Chinese collaboration.
The event was attended by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and the Commandant of AFIC-NIHD, Major General Naseer Ahmad Samore.
During his remarks, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong announced plans to extend similar medical services to Balochistan and provide training for Pakistani doctors to perform these advanced procedures. He emphasized China’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with Pakistan in the healthcare sector.
The First Lady expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Chinese government for its significant contribution to Pakistan’s health sector. She also praised AFIC-NIHD’s management for delivering cutting-edge treatment to patients with heart conditions.
During her visit, the First Lady toured various wards of the institute, interacted with patients, and presented them with flowers as a gesture of care and support.
To commemorate the occasion, the Commandant of AFIC-NIHD, Major General Naseer Ahmad Samore, presented the First Lady with a commemorative shield.
