China’s trade in goods with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 22.1 trillion yuan (approximately 3.07 trillion USD) in 2024, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
Over half of China’s imports, nearly 54%, originated from BRI partner nations, showcasing China’s role as a vital market offering growth opportunities globally, said ministry official Li Yongsha at a press conference.
China’s exports to BRI countries spanned consumer goods, industrial equipment, and components, contributing significantly to the industrial development of these nations, Li added.
Bilateral investments with BRI countries continued to grow, with China’s non-financial direct investment in these nations reaching 214.66 billion yuan in the first 11 months of 2024. Meanwhile, investment from BRI countries into China totaled 99.87 billion yuan.
From January to November 2024, China signed 36 investment cooperation agreements with BRI countries, focusing on emerging sectors such as green, digital, and blue economies, according to Li.
China also executed 700 aid projects in BRI countries during the first 11 months of 2024, with these initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and fostering development. Additionally, the turnover from China’s contracted projects in BRI nations during this period amounted to 826.34 billion yuan.
