Xi Jinping, Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), presented a certificate of promotion on Monday to elevate a military officer to the rank of general.
The officer promoted is Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the Army of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Zhang Youxia, CMC Vice Chairman, announced the promotion order signed by Xi Jinping during a ceremony held in Beijing, which was presided over by He Weidong, another CMC Vice Chairman.
Xi Jinping personally congratulated the newly promoted general.
In China, the rank of general is the highest attainable for active service officers.
