Pakistan-China Investment Conference held in Guangzhou to encourage investments in various sectors.
A roundtable investment conference took place in Guangzhou on December 14th, presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif during her visit to China. The event drew participation from officials representing over 60 renowned Chinese companies.
Representatives from leading Chinese firms across various sectors—including health, artificial intelligence, agriculture, IT, waste management, and solar energy—delivered detailed presentations showcasing their institutional expertise.
Chief Minister Maryam extended an invitation to Chinese technology companies to commence operations in Punjab, promising comprehensive support through a one-window facilitation system. She elaborated on Punjab’s economic significance, strategic location, and business-friendly environment.
Highlighting environmental initiatives, she shared that the “Suthra Punjab” zero-waste mission is underway, with opportunities for Chinese companies to contribute. She also announced plans to convert waste into renewable energy and emphasized Punjab’s campaign against plastic use, including a ban on environmentally harmful plastics.
The Chief Minister emphasized Punjab’s focus on modernizing agriculture through mechanization and highlighted efforts to harness wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources for cost-effective electricity generation. She also pointed out the growing demand for solar energy in Punjab, welcoming Chinese collaboration in an ongoing solarization mega-project.
She further invited Chinese investment in Punjab’s burgeoning IT sector, covering areas such as e-commerce, incubators, e-learning, telemedicine, and nanotechnology, fostering innovation and technological growth in the province.
