China has launched the 2025-26 scholarship program for students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), enabling them to pursue higher studies and research at Chinese universities.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that the deadline to submit online applications is Monday, December 9, 2024.
Only applicants with valid HAT (obtained on or after December 9, 2022) or USAT scores (obtained on or after December 9, 2023) are eligible for the scholarship. These scores must be submitted on the HEC portal during the application process.
To apply on the China Scholarship Council (CSC) portal under category A (agency No. 5861), applicants should visit Campuschina.org or https://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua.
The scholarship program aims to strengthen educational ties between China and Pakistan. It offers opportunities for Pakistani students and researchers to study at Chinese universities, with HEC serving as the nominating agency for the academic year 2025-26.
The China Scholarship Council, under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, manages the scholarship program, which supports undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in various fields of study.
Eligibility requirements include being a Pakistani or AJK national (dual nationals are not eligible) and being in good health. Applicants must also have completed their degree by the application deadline.
Undergraduate applicants need to have 12 years of education (Intermediate/A-level/FA-FSC) and be under 25 years old. Master’s applicants require a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) and should be under 35. Doctoral applicants must have a master’s degree (MS/MPhil) and be under 40. All applicants must meet the admission criteria of the applied universities.
Candidates cannot hold any other scholarships during this application process. A minimum score of 50 out of 100 in HAT or USAT tests is mandatory, and scores must be valid as per the dates specified.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, administrative costs, health insurance, and student activities. Awardees will receive free dormitory accommodation or a housing subsidy, along with stipends as per the Chinese government’s scholarship policy.
Applicants should register and submit their applications online at http://scholarship.hec.gov.pk/ under “Learning Opportunities Abroad.” After submission, a printed and signed copy of the application must be retained. The HEC application portal will close on December 9, 2024, at 4:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
