Chengdu-Vienna direct flights strengthen ties that will be operating round trips three days a week.
A direct passenger air route connecting Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province, with Vienna, Austria, was inaugurated on Sunday, according to its operator.
The maiden flight departed from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport at 2:49 a.m. on Sunday and was expected to arrive in Vienna at around 6 a.m. local time, with a flight duration of 10 hours and 20 minutes.
Hainan Airlines operates the route, offering round-trip flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. The return flight departs Vienna at 12:30 p.m. local time and lands in Chengdu approximately nine hours and 40 minutes later, at 5:10 a.m. the following day.
Chengdu and Vienna have established partnerships in fields such as music, art, culture, and education. Zhang Naifu from Hainan Airlines’ marketing committee expressed optimism that the new route would strengthen connections and foster greater exchanges between the two cities.
