Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Pakistan’s top military officials, including Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar on Monday.
Li highlighted that China and Pakistan, since establishing diplomatic relations, have always respected and supported each other. He emphasized that the two nations are strong partners and close brothers, having weathered international challenges together and provided mutual assistance during difficult times.
Li further noted that under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistani leaders, China-Pakistan relations have deepened and progressed toward creating a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era. China is committed to implementing the consensus between the two nations, deepening strategic coordination, and enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation to bring more benefits to both peoples.
Li expressed China’s strong support for Pakistan’s unity, stability, prosperity, and strength, and reiterated China’s willingness to continue providing assistance. He emphasized that the two militaries should strengthen cooperation to solidify China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation.
China is also committed to supporting Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and seeks to deepen counterterrorism cooperation. Li stressed the importance of pooling regional counterterrorism efforts to ensure peace and stability in both countries and the region.
Pakistan’s Military Leadership
The Pakistani military leadership reaffirmed the deep-rooted consensus across all sectors of Pakistani society on strengthening the Pakistan-China “ironclad” friendship. They acknowledged the strong political trust between the two nations and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects within the country.
The Pakistani military expressed its willingness to enhance defense and security cooperation with China through both bilateral and multilateral frameworks to protect mutual interests and promote regional peace, stability, and development.
