August 6 – Chinese and Egyptian FMs hold phone talks on bilateral ties and discuss the prevalent situation in Middle East.
On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, at Safadi’s request. The discussion centered on the current situation in the Middle East.
Safadi expressed concern over the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, which has heightened tensions in the region and created a very dangerous situation. He remarked that escalating the conflict benefits no one and only leads to further losses.
He further emphasized the need for the international community to act swiftly to prevent further escalation, halt violations of international law, secure a ceasefire in Gaza, and work towards establishing Palestine as a sovereign state through a two-state solution.

Wang stressed that achieving a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza is crucial to preventing further deterioration. He called for a unified international stance and collaborative effort to address the issue.
Praising Jordan’s role in the Middle East peace process, Wang affirmed China’s willingness to work with Jordan to encourage all parties to prioritize peace, avoid actions that escalate the situation, and resume ceasefire talks promptly.
