Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has embarked on a significant road expansion project, focusing on the Makki Masjid-Mullah Fazil Chowk section of Syed Zahoor Hashmi Road, widely recognized as Airport Road. This strategic initiative is poised to elevate connectivity in Gwadar, underscoring the steadfast commitment to the city’s comprehensive development.
Directed by Dawood Khan Khilji, GDA Director-General, the project addresses a longstanding demand from the local community for improved connectivity. Residents, stakeholders, and public circles in Gwadar have expressed satisfaction with the initiation of construction work on this vital business highway, emphasizing the urgent need for its completion.
According to GDA’s statement, the construction work was previously hindered for several years due to illegal occupation and unauthorized encroachments. However, the government has proactively arranged substantial compensation for legitimate property owners, ensuring fair compensation if their shops or properties are affected during the road expansion. These compensations, benchmarked against market values, are deemed competitive in the entire region, according to GDA.
The road improvement and widening project will facilitate convenient access to key business hubs in the city, including Mullah Fazil Chowk and Shahi Bazaar. Moreover, the upgrade will include sewerage and drainage line enhancements, addressing environmental concerns in Gwadar.
This initiative aligns with GDA’s commitment to the city’s sustainable development and improved infrastructure. It is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall connectivity and accessibility of Gwadar, fostering economic growth and community development.
