Chinese President Xi’s special envoy attends Namibian President inauguration on Friday, reaffirming commitment to strengthen mutual trust and enhance high level exchanges.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Peng Qinghua, attended the inauguration ceremony of Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.
Peng, who serves as the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, also met with President Nandi-Ndaitwah to discuss the state of bilateral relations between China and Namibia.
During their discussion, Peng conveyed President Xi’s warm congratulations on Nandi-Ndaitwah’s inauguration, which coincided with Namibia’s 35th anniversary of independence. He emphasized the strong traditional friendship between China and Namibia, highlighting that this year also marks the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
Peng reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening ties with Namibia, stating that China looks forward to deepening high-level exchanges, enhancing political trust, expanding practical cooperation, and promoting coordination on international affairs. These efforts, he noted, would further advance the China-Namibia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed her gratitude to President Xi for sending a special envoy and requested Peng to convey her sincere greetings to him. She praised the strong relations between Namibia and China, acknowledged China’s longstanding support, and expressed her hope for continued friendly cooperation across multiple sectors.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries and representatives from nearly 30 countries, as well as international and regional organizations.
